About | Graduation year unknown - 38? Dec. 20, 1920 - Feb. 20, 2014 Teruo 'Teddy' Sekikawa, a long time resident of Sacramento, passed away on Feb. 20th at the age of 93. He was survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen, son Clint Sekikawa, daughter Natlee Hapeman (Roy); grandaughter Sydnie Sekikawa, grandson Roy Miaki Hapeman, brothers Howard and Sam and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by sisters Eleanor Ikesaki, Betty Aiona, Rose Yamamoto and brothers George and Bill. Teddy attended Elk Grove High School, graduated from Greer Mechanical Engineers in Chicago, IL. and Johnson Marine Motor Co. in Waukegan, IL. He was confined to internment camps at Rohwer and Jerome Relocation Centers in Arkansas during World War II. After the war, he was employed by Northern Engineers, Capitol Chevrolet and Williamson's Auto and Marine. He operated Ted's Mobil Service and Ted's Phillip '66' Service for many years. He was employed by Valley Ring and Rebore and Densmore Engines as a machinist before retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Sacramento Buddhist Church, Bocho Doshi Kai, Japanese American Citizens League, Aichi Kenjin Kai and the South Sacramento Shinwa Kai. He received tender loving care from the Meadows at Country Place and Mercy Hospice. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service held at the Sacramento Buddhist Church, 2401 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento on Sunday March 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm with reception to follow. - Information from the Sacramento Bee |
