About	Published: Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in the Elk Grove Citizen Nelda Wilson Clark, a longtime resident of Elk Grove died Feb. 7 at the age of 79. She was born on Nov. 23, 1934 in Lubbock, Texas to Othie and Edna Wilson. Her early years were spent living in several different towns in Arizona. In 1940 her family, like so many others during the Great Depression, came to California looking for work. They settled in Florin in 1946 and Nelda graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1952. She attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas until the combination of homesickness and no money brought her back to Florin. Nelda and Calvin Clark were married in 1953 and lived in Florin until moving to Elk Grove in 1978. Mrs. Clark worked for the Elk Grove Unified School District for 27 years, primarily as the principal's secretary at James Rutter Middle School, retiring in 1991. She and Calvin enjoyed many years of retirement traveling in their RV, spending time with their grandchildren and wintering with friends in Yuma, Arizona. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Calvin Clark; children Janet Larson (Steve), Sharon Chapman (Mark), Susan Bainter (Greg), Timothy Clark (Brenda), and Shelly Hughes; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Clark was the sister of Janice Patterson, Carol Rode and Neil Wilson. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at Sun Grove Church, 2285 Longport Court, Elk Grove, near I-5. A reception will follow.
