Donald Max Stevens, a long time resident of Elk Grove died Jan. 14, 2014 following a brief illness. He was 65.
He was born June 10, 1948 in Lebanon, Indiana to Adrian and Freida Stevens and came to Elk Grove as a child. As a teenager he worked for Bob Batey Chevrolet and the Cattle Palace. and later worked for a
wood molding and trim company.
Mr Stevens served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1974 and during that time saw duty in Vietnam for which he received both the
Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Larry Stevens.
Mr. Stevens is survived by his brother Mark Stevens and family of Elk Grove; his aunt and uncle, May and Jack Stevens of Indiana;
and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He also leaves many friends, one of which commented on what a good baker he was, " especially his banana bread. "
