About	Mrs. Joyce M. Bedient, age 82, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2013. She peacefully yielded her struggle with cancer at her home in Sacramento, CA. Born on June 10, 1931 in Sacramento, CA, to William & Marie Briggs, she lived in Elk Grove, CA, graduating from Elk Grove High School in 1949. Joyce was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who traveled the world, living in Japan, Germany, and Spain, and visiting The Vatican, Greece, Middle East, Egypt, South America, Antarctica, Tahiti, and Australia. In her later years she devoted much of her time to serving St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Elk Grove, from its beginning. She is survived by her brother, Dr. William Donald Briggs of San Francisco, CA; daughters & sons-in-law Ann & Pat Hanna, Nancy & Danny Winters, and Debbie Braziel, son & daughter-in-law Pat & Donna Griffith, step-daughter & son-in-law Beth & Michael Martell, and son-in-law Gary Newton; 14 grandchildren: Sean Hanna, Kimberly & Rob Dolstad, Steven Hanna, Tina & George Loera, Kevin & Jamie Crouch, Matthew Griffith, Justin & Eleonor Griffith, Adam Braziel, Nathan Hanna, Megan Martell, Hannah Martell, John Griffith, Lily Rose Martell, Melody Griffith; and 7 great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her first spouse Richard Griffith, her second spouse, Everett Bedient, step-son, Greg Bedient, and step-daughter Kathy Newton.
