Graduation Year Class of 1951
Date of Passing (unknown)
About Lee passed away on June 28, 2013 at the age of 80. He was born in Butte, MT on November 17, 1932 to Cave and Helen Kirtley. Later their family moved to Sacramento, CA. Lee graduated from Elk Grove HS and then joined the U.S. Air Force. After he was discharged, he met the love of his life, Betty. They were married in Virginia City and were married for 51 years before Betty's passing in 2011. Lee was a long-time, firm believer of the Teamsters, Local 150, and retired as a truck driver from J.E. Higgins Lumber Co. Lee enjoyed working in his yard, tinkering with cars, organizing blood drives, being a part of the Knights of Columbus, listening to "the oldies" music, spending time with his family, and always being there to lend a helping hand. Lee is preceded in death by his loving wife, their young daughter Helen, and his sister Audrey Brazil. He will be dearly missed by their children Richard (Rita), Susan, Colette (Danny), and Lee (Jamie). Lee also had grandchildren that he thought the world of: Sarah, Nicole (Dan), Patrick (Emilee), Samantha, Holly, Geremy, and Tyler. He was also blessed with two wonderful great-granddaughters: Maia and Reegan. Lee also leaves behind his sister Opal Kane, his brother Cave Kirtley, and two brothers-in-law, Jim Kane and Chuck Brazil, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who were loved very much. Lee's family would like to thank Fair Oaks Estates for taking such good care of him for the past two years. If friends or family would like, a donation in Lee's name could be sent to the Alzheimer's Aid Society of Northern CA or to the BloodSource. Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial mass on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 1717 El Monte Ave., Sacramento, CA. Reception to follow. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10am. - Information from the Sacramento Bee
