About	Sheila Van Ruiten died June 4, 2013 at the age of 51. She was born Dec. 13, 1961 in Los Angeles and at the age of 3 moved to Elk Grove with her family. Ms. Van Ruiten graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1980 and attended St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga, graduating with a degree in psychology. After graduation she returned to her hometown of Elk Grove. Her family said she was an avid animal lover and you would usually find her with one of her many pets. “She had an understanding with animals and trust was always apparent,” they said. She also loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking along the river and hunting for unique rocks. Ms. Van Ruiten is survived by her mother Mary Rita Van Ruiten, her father John Van Ruiten and wife Helen of Elk Grove; her sister Diane Van Ruiten-Hobday, nephew AJ Hobday and niece Siera Hobday all from Lake Stevens, Wash. Services will take place Monday, June 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 8700 Bradshaw Road in Elk Grove.
