About	Donald A. Butler who grew up in Florin died June 27, 2013 at the age of 90 following a sudden illness. He was born April 30, 1923 in Sacramento to Arthur C. Butler and Grace Feil Butler and attended Florin Elementary School and then graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1941. In high school he was student body president in his senior year. Mr. Butler was always very proud of the fact that Arthur C. Butler Elementary School in the Elk Grove Unified School District was named for his father. Donald Butler served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II and was stationed in China, Burma and India, leaving the service with the rank of sergeant. He enjoyed attending reunions of his Army group, traveling to Washington, Colorado, Arizona and South Dakota. He attended his last one in Reno in 2010. Mr. Butler retired from Lucky's Market in 1965. He was a member of the Florin Historical Society, Elk Grove Yearly Reunion Committee and Sons In Retirement chapter in Pollock Pines where he lived. He was a former member of Cypress Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Butler is survived by his daughter, Paula Blaver; grandsons Travis and Ryan and wife Kristi Blaver; stepson Jim Ferguson and wife Margaret; and stepdaughter Sunny Nace. He was the brother of Melvin Butler and wife Doris, Dorothy Fauth and Janice Ross and husband J.T.; and brother-in-law of Don Perry and wife Kenna. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at Cypress Missionary Baptist Church, 7933 Bradshaw Road. - Information from the Elk Grove Citizen
