About After a courageous 3+year battle with lung cancer, Lester went home victoriously to be with Our Lord in Heaven on February 14, 2013. He is preceded in death by parents James and Shirley Foster. Lester was born in Stockton, California, on August 20, 1948 and was raised on a ranch in Elk Grove, California.

Lester was an employee for the US Corps of Engineers in California and later transferred to Washington State and worked at Lower Granite Dam before retirement. He also worked on assignment in Saudi Arabia for the Corps during Desert Storm.

Lester thrived on adventure and had a heart of gratitude for the many blessings he received God. His sense of humor, experience, strength, and hope will be missed by family and friends.

Lester is survived by his daughter Shirley Cullen and her husband George, Redondo Beach, CA; daughter Michelle Pfeifer and her husband Billy, grandsons Tyler and Justin, great-granddaughter Mylaa, Stockton, MO; and brother Keith Foster and his wife MargieAnn, Claremont, NC; aunt Jean Foster, Sacramento, CA; cousins Dell Foster, Sacramento, CA; Dena Baker, Sacramento, CA; and nephew and nieces. Lester is also survived by his wife Janice Christensen Foster and her family: daughter Marra Schmierer and her husband Deric, granddaughter Alexis and grandsons Aiden and Izaak, Odessa, WA; and mother Maxine Christensen, Kennewick, WA; sister Sandra Meigs and her husband Jim, Richland, WA; sister Brenda Young, Kennewick, WA; brother Jerry Christensen and wife Kay, Kennewick, WA; and many nephews and nieces.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013, 10:30 a.m., at Mueller’s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick.
