About	Funeral services will take place Saturday, Jan. 19 for Rita Elizabeth Olson of Elk Grove who died Jan. 7, 2013. She was 55. Ms. Olson was born Sept. 17, 1957 in Grass Valley to Elliott and Jean Olson. She attended elementary school through eighth grade in Sacramento, and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1975 where she participated in singing groups, plays and Mat Maids, scorekeepers for the wrestling team. She then attended Cosumnes River College where she received her Associate of Arts degree. Ms. Olson worked for the state of California, retiring from the DMV in 2010. Before that she was part of the disaster team that went to the Bay Area following the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. He family said that she was an enthusiastic roller skater, Western line dancer, skilled in cake decorating, needlework, ceramics and crafts and loved gardening, flowers, movies and reading. She also learned American sign language and made baby blankets for WEAVE. Ms. Olson is survived by her parents, Elliott and Jean Olson of Elk Grove; siblings David Olson and wife Peggy of Placerville, Brian Olson of Reno and Eileen Delaney of Elk Grove; and nieces and nephew Elizabeth, Megan and Emma Olson and Steven and Sarah Delaney.
