About Janice Joyce Lewis, 82, went home to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 6, 2012. A Celebration of Life Luncheon for family and friends will be held Sunday, Oct 7, after 11:00 am church service, American River Community Church, Carmichael, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mercy Hospice, Union Gospel Mission, or Teen Challenge-Sacramento.

Born in Wagner, SD, July 15, to Frank and Freda (Weber) Kasitz. Lived in Wagner, Avon, Hot Springs, SD, and Elk Grove, CA. Graduated from Elk Grove HS; attended Biola College in Southern CA.

In 1952, Janice married Larry Lewis. They lived in Sacramento and moved to Rancho Cordova. In 60 years they raised 3 daughters, and enjoyed 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Janice taught children about God in Child Evangelism, VBS, and Youth Groups. She was active in Girl Scouts, PTA, and was involved in many Women's civic and church groups.

Janice worked for Mercy Hospital Business Office, Sacramento, for 20 yrs. Janice served two terms as President of Credit Women's International. She excelled in her role as a professional business woman.

Larry and Janice enjoyed playing cards, drives, picnics, camping, boating, races, vacations, celebrations, and homemade ice cream! Janice enjoyed gardening, played piano and sang. She was a friend to many!

Preceded in death by her father, mother, brother (Kenneth). Survived by her husband, Larry Lewis; daughters Cyndie (Randy) Holland, Susan (Dan) Lewis-Koenigshof, Melody (Calvin) Taylor; sister Faith Jensen; brother-in-law Bill Patrick; nieces Esther (Bill) Baker, Dawn Barr, Heidi (Rueben) Garcia; grandchildren Gerald (Betty) Holland; Jenna (David) Palaroan; Keith, Katie, Shania Koenigshof; Andrew Taylor; Anthony (Teresse) Taylor; great-grandchildren Tristan, Nate, Christina, Anika, Jasmine, Destiny, Mariah, and Samantha.

Her memory lapsed due to Alzheimer's, but she still knew her family. Special thanks to her family caregivers and Mercy Hospice. When faced with difficult times mom always said, 'And this too shall pass!' We have great joy knowing that we will see her again in heaven, one day soon. 'Joy cometh in the morning!'
