About	Elk Grove lost another member of a pioneer family with the death of Andrew Sherwood Allen who passed away from natural causes July 29, 2012 at the age of 95. His maternal great-grandparents, Milton and Sarah Sherwood came to the area by way of a covered wagon in 1862, bringing along their small son, David Henry Sherwood. His paternal grandparents, George and Ann Allen arrived in 1896. The family farmed more than 200 acres along what is now Elk Grove Boulevard west of Bruceville Road where the present Madeira subdivision is located. Mr. Allen was born Oct. 7, 1916 in the Sherwood home on Elk Grove Boulevard and, said his family, made his first visit to â€œdowntownâ€ Elk Grove in the family buggy when he was two weeks old. He graduated from Elk Grove Union High School in 1934 and devoted his life to farming. He was a member of the Farmers' Rice Co-op, Cal West Seeds and the Sacramento County Farm Bureau. His family said that he was a hard working, honest, generous man who will be sorely missed. In 1940 he married Norma, and the two shared 65 years together until her death. Mr. Allen is survived by his son Wayne Allen and wife Joann; his daughters Sharon Musto and Joan Allen; grandchildren Michael Musto and wife Cassandra, Heidi Mack and husband Scott, and Matthew Allen and wife Jenny; and great-grandchildren Gianni and Giuliana Allen. A viewing will be held Saturday, July 28 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Harry A. Naumann & Son, 4041 Freeport Blvd., Sacramento. Services will take place Monday, July 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Point Pleasant United Methodist Church, 3357 Point Pleasant Road off Franklin Boulevard.
