His family said that David was the essence of the American Indian Man in today's society. Hewas Miwok Proud and a member of Wilton Miwok Rancheria. Other tribal affiliations included Concow, Yuki and Littlelake. He hunted deer and fished, not for sport, but to provide for the family. He learned these survival skills very young. They say it's in the DNA; he had problems like a large percentage of the young Native American men in modern society today. He would have done very well being born in an earlier era. If you needed help and he could provide that help, he was there.

David (Lesama) Blue loved his people, he believed in the old way and tried very hard to live according to those beliefs. He attended weekly Sweat Lodge ceremonies, prayed and sang in the old way. Lesama was his Miwok name, it meant Mischievous One. David had a very unique sense of humor he could always make you laugh.

He earned a living as a journeyman roofer and was employed by Dwayne Fowler of Fowler's Roofing in Ione. According to many, including his employer Dwayne, he was very loyal and honest.

He had a beautiful spirit and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. David had a twinkle in his eyes and smile that could light up a room. - Information from the Elk Grove Citizen and Sacramento Bee
