About Jerry was born December 7, 1946 in Sacramento to Paul and Emmie Takehara. When he passed on he was surrounded by his family. Jerry leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Janet Whitehouse Takehara; daughter Jessica and Bryan Ingram and grandson Justin; and son Douglas. He is survived by his loving brother Steven, niece Kimberly with her family Derek Bean, Isaac and Katelyn and niece Nicole and fiance Michael Matucci. He also survived by his beloved sister Paula with her family Thomas Suzuki, Heather, and Scott. He will be dearly missed by his many aunts, uncles, couisins, and friends.
Jerry graduated from Elk Grove High School, UC Davis and recieved his masters from UC Davis in Child Development. He was the director of Head Start for Solano County, the Chief of Case Management Services for the North Bay Regional Center, then left to start his own Insurance Agency in 1979. He was still working in Insurance at MeGee & Thielen Insurance Agency at the time of his death. He was currently the President of the JACL Health Benefits Trust and the Vice-President of Bocho Doshi Kai. He was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Sacramento, United Way, Sakura Golf Club, SJUMC, the Asian Chamber of Commerce, and the Sacramento Japanese American Citizens League (JACL).
A celebration of his life was held on Saturday, Match 10 at 2:00 pm at the Sacramento United Methodist Curch at 6929 Franklin Blvd, Sacramento, California 95823. In lieu of flowers, rememberances may be made to SJUMC, The Kiwanis Family House or United Way. - Information from the Sacramento Bee.
