About	Year of graduation unknown (1936-37? Ed, 93, was friendly, well liked quiet man who was socially active until just weeks before his death. Always a gentleman, he made friends easily with people of all ages. He was born in Elk Grove where he spent his childhood on the Kammerer homestead which was established in the early 1900's. He enlisted in the Army during WW II and served three years at Bismarck Axchipelago Luzon in the Philippines. He recieved the Asian Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and American Defense Service Medal. Upon his retrun to Elk Grove he became active in the Odd Fellows Lodge of Elk Grove and served many offices of the lodge including Grand Color Bearer of the Grand Lodge of California. He was also active in community and civic betterment projects including the establishment of the Elk Grove Western Festival. For many years, Ed was a highly regarded land leveler. Then a change in his career led to employment in the Elk Grove School District until his retirement. Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ruth, and by his 13 brothers and sisters. He is suvived by his loving daughter Kathy Dokimos and husband Ernest, many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends were invited to visitation on Wednesday, February 29, from 4:00 pm to 8:00pm and funeral services and interment on Thursday, March 1 at 10:00 am all at the East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary Chapel, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, California (916) 732-2031.
