About	(Photo is from Junior year 1972 at EGHS) A former resident of Elk Grove, Carol passed away suddenly in Longmont, Colorado. At the time of her death she had her private criminal law practice in Longmont. She was born on February 3, 1956 to Kenneth and Virginia Stapleton in Placerville, and grew up in Elk Grove where her parents owned the Elk Grove Pharmacy. She graduated from EGHS in 1973, attended California State University in Chico, and traveled in Europe before graduating from Arizona State University, summa cum laude. While there she earned her private pilot's license. Carol then attended and graduated from George Washington University School of Law. From there she did an internship with a federal judge in Palm Beach, Florida before taking on a position at a large law firm on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Later she opened up a private criminal law practice in Longmont. Her family said, "Carol was bright, loving, wickedly funny. intellectually curious, and will be sorely missed by all those who knew her." Carol was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Stapleton. She is survived by her mother, Virginia; sister Suzanne Seller Di Sano (Jean Marc); brothers Mark, Paul (Janis), Brain (Dale), and Jeff (Laurie); nephews Nash, Keane, and Shane; and nieces Lee and Taylor.
