About | Jay (44) was born October 1, 1966 in New Delhi, India, where his parents, Jerry and Carol Warren taught at the American International School. They moved to Elk Grove in 1969 and to Wilton in 1973 where his father taught at Elk Grove High School for more than 30 years, and his mother worked at Sutter Hospital. Jay atteneded Dillard Elementary School, Kerr Middle School, and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1984 and played football, wrestling and track, and was a member of the FFA. As a child he played Little League baseball and soccer. He earned his Associate of Arts degree, and was a qualified emergency medical technician and in the Fire Fighters reserves for 3 years. In 1987 he joined the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Panama conflict where he saw active combat duty. He served a second term in Berlin where he was part of the Berlin brigade as well as the Gulf War. He then worked for the Elk Grove post office and was currently employed by Repubklican Allied Waste. His family said he loved camping, fishing, cooking (especially barbecued oysters), music, and was always the life of the party and a huge prankster. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Warren. He is survived by his wife Cheryl of Elk Grove; daughter Justine, a graduate of Sheldon High School.; father Jerry Warren of Wilton; sister Leslie Flojo, husband Mike and children Michael, Morgan, and Megan of Wilton; and brother Gary Warren, wife Errin and children Christian and Marissa of Roseville. Jay was son-in-law of Larry and Pat Sharts of Fair Oaks and brother-in-law of Barbara Pines, husband Tony and children Vanessa, Samantha, Kaitlin and Kyle of Elk Grove. There was a viewing on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove, followed by services at 2:00 pm at the chapal and a reception in the Grange Hall next door. A private burial was held in the Sacramento National Cemetery in Dixon. - Information from the Elk Grove Citizen. |
