About	Former Elk Grove resident, Marlena Burton, passed away in her family's home in Kings Beach. She was born on August 26, 1942 in Chicago, and grew up in Elk Grove, graduating from Elk Grove High School in 1960. She was a class officer, member of the student council, song leader, and homecoming princess. Following graduation she attended Sacramento City College. Marlena held many different jobs including ticket agent for United Airlines, travel agent, blackjack dealer, real estate agent, communications supervisor for the Resort at Squaw Valley, and most recent for the Tahoe Forest Hospital District in the Hospice Gift and Thrift in Kings Beach where she retired in 2007. Her children said her greatest loves were reading, her family, her dog Macy, and Lake Tahoe. She had moved with her two children to the North Shore of Lake Tahoe in the summer of 1976, and, said her daughter, "The greatest gift she gave (us) was moving us to Lake Tahoe and working very hard to keep us there. We continue to be blessed by that decision." "We deeply appreciate everyone at the Tahoe Forest Cancer Center and Tahoe Forest Hospice." Marlena is survived by her son, Tommy Burton of Olympic Valley; daughter Sheryl Larson and husband Keith of Kings Beach; granddaughters Alexandra and Jennifer; and brother William Bienhaus of Irving Texas.
