About	Brian, 32 of Galt, California died accidentally in Elk Grove. He was a Sacramento County deputy district attorney and at the time of his death was with the Sex Assult Child Abuse unit (SACA). Brian was born in Elk Grove on May 29, 1961 and graduated from EGHS and at the age of 19 was sworn in as a deputy sheriff. He worked full time at his job while attending college part time, receiving his degree from Californioa State University, San Diego, California in 1986. In May of 1989 he earned his law degree from McGeorge Law School, passed his bar exam on the first try, and went to work for the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office. There he prosecuted numerous misdemeanor and felony jury trials including a murder trial, and was recently assigned to the SACA. His supervisor, Jean Williamson was one of the speakers at the service presided over by Father Albert O'Connor at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Former Sacramento County Sheriff Duane Lowe led speakers, recalling how he first met Brian at a fundraiser hosted by Brian's parents, and later had the privelidge of welcoming him as a deputy sheriff. Also sharing recollections were SASC investigator Walter Behr, boyhood friend Jimmy Fales who carried paper rout with him, cousin Dan Ingoglia, and his brother, Eric Hintz.. Brian often stated that his career was a reflection of his parents interest. His father was also a deputy district attorney, now in private practice, and his mother's career in social services, particularly dealing with the child abuse program. He was an athletic person who loved to snow ski and was a ski patrolman at Boreal Ridge and also participated in intercollegiate water skiing. He taught his wife to snow ski and she too became an expert skier. He leaves behind his wife, Sandy Hintz of Galt; his parents, Maryanna Lynch of Elk Grove and Hamilton L. and Rita M.Hintz of Wilton; his brothers Eric H. Hintz of Sacramento and Steven Hintz of Wilton. Brian was the nephew of Susan Butler, Shiela and Kathleen Barr all of Sacramento; cousin of Dan Ingoglia of Los Angles, Shannon Harrison of Sacramento and Terrance Barr of Seattle, Washington; and great-nephew of Anne Johnson of Sacramento. A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 2, 1993 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 9961 Elk Grove Blvd, Elk Grove, California with interment at South East Lawn Memorial Park, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, California. Arrangements were made by South East Lawn Mortuary of Elk Grove.
