About EGHS graduation year unknown (41?)

She passed away peacefully in her sleep. Alta was born on November 12, 1923 in Ada, Oklahoma to James H. and Sarah Ann Blackwell and sister to Lillian Quinn. She grew up in Sacramento and went to Elk Grove High School and then to Compton Junior College.
Alta is survived by her adoring husband, John McCullough, of 60 loving years of marriage this May 17th. John currently resides in Sonoma, California with her loving daughter, Sandie McCullough and son-in-law, Jason Blaine in Kenwood, California. Her oldest daughter Maridee Costa currently resides in Monroe, CT. Alta is also survived by her sister's children: Mary Ann, Jim, Kerry and their children. Alta loved to travel and visit many exotic locations such as Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Antigua, Barbados, and Brazil. Some of her favorite trips were with her family to Hawaii for special occasions such as anniversaries, her daughter's wedding in Maui in 2003 and many summer vacations.
Alta worked at Mr. Perkins Hardware Store in Los Angles and sold china at the young age of 18. She also worked for and knew Howard Hughes at Hughes Aircraft in Los Angles. She was a trusted employee having the responsibilities in the Blue Print Control Department. As a proud American, she worked on the production of the B24 gas tanks for WW II. But her most beloved job was working for the State of California in Unclaimed Property and with the Bureau of Criminal Statistics at the Capitol.
She was a registered Republican all her life and would tell you she voted in every election. Alta was a People's Advocate Volunteer for Paul Gann and was especially passionate about her work on helping Proposition 13 pass. Her hobbies were gardening and window shopping. Alta loved animals and raised two toy poodles, Mimi Raneau and Scruffy McDuffy. Alta always had a smile and would talk to any stranger who came her way. She would fill the room with her laughter and would always let you know what was on her mind right till the very end.
There were no services held. The family would prefer that you make a donation to the Alzheimer's Foundation on her behalf. May she rest in peace. We will miss you Mom. - Information from the Sacramento Bee
