The body found in a pickup on Churchill Downs in Woodland last Friday has been identified as Michael Thomas Kelley, the Yolo County Coroner's Office reported. Chief Deputy Coroner Robert LaBrash reported that Kelley, 58, had been living in his truck for some time. The truck was registered in Dixon and Kelley was last reported as having a permanent residence in Dixon. LaBrash reported there was no indication of foul play in Kelley's death, however, the cause of death has yet to be determined. LaBrash reported late Monday that testing will continue. Kelley was found around 1:46 p.m., last Friday slumped over in the cab of his black Dodge in a parking lot of the 1400 block of Churchill Downs near Santa Anita Drive in the city's northeast industrial area. Police found no
evidence of trauma, no weapons, no obvious cause of death and no sign of criminal activity, according to the release. Nothing the police found in the vehicle, including blankets and clothing, appeared out of the ordinary, police reported. LaBrash confirmed earlier reports that Kelley probably had been dead for perhaps a week before his body was discovered. The isolated, industrial nature of the parking lot, located next to a vacant warehouse, may account for why Kelley was unnoticed for so long, officials believe.
