About	Kathy (64) was born on August 14, 1946 to Velma and Clifford Smotherman and grew up in the Elk Grove-Wilton area and left Elk Grove High School at the end of her Junior year (See photo). On December 19, 1962 she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Fernandes. Kathy worked for the Elk Grove Unified School District as a bus driver for 31 years. Her family said that she treated every child as if they were her own. In retirement she and her husband enjoyed traveling as well as camping with friends and family. Kathy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ronald Fernandes; sons Jeff and Bobby; daughter-in-law Lisa; and grandchildren Jordon, Joshua, and Joey. She was the sister of Donald, Delos, Joyce, and Arlene; sister-in-law of Joycelene, Mariyln, Tony, and Bruce. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Visitaion was Thursday, January 13 from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral services were held on Friday, January 14 at 2:00pm, both at East Lawn Elk Grove Chapel, 9189 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, California.
