Graduation Year Class of 1967
Date of Passing Dec 28, 2010
About Judy was born on February 24, 1949 to Robert and Lucille Barmby. She was welcomed by her big brother Jeff who was two years older than she. Five years later, her younger brother Shane arrived. Judy's grandparents, Bob Sr. and Ada Barmby, were cattle and rodeo people well known throughout California. She loved and enjoyed her western heritage. She was also very fond of her maternal grandmother, Rose Hanford. Judy is survived by her mother, Lucille Barmby, brother Shane Barmby, daughter, Jocelyn (Bahr) Jones and grandson, Kade Jones.
Judy attended Sierra Enterprise throughout her Elementary years and graduated from EGHS in 1967. Among her many accomplishments, she was an outstanding scholar, cheerleader and homecoming queen. Judy attended Sacramento State College where she majored in Psychology and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She obtained her teacher's credential and was a dedicated elementary teacher for some 25 years. Judy married in 1973 and from that union her daughter Jocelyn was born. In May of 2010 she was gifted by her daughter with her grandson, Kade Robert Jones. She was a gifted musician at the piano and guitar and had a beautiful singing voice. She had been active in choirs throughout her schooling years, and later in life participated in a community operetta group that gave performances in various towns throughout California.
Judy's love of family was her greatest passion. Her friendships were ones from childhood that had carried on through the end of her life, especially her dear, dear friend Becky (Buttram) Fogel, Linda (Vaughan) Dern and favorite cousin, Kathy Hanford. She made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, and was at peace in spit of knowing she was stricken by cancer the last few months of her life. Of all of Judy's talents and accomplishments, it should most be remembered that Judy's gift was her loving and generous heart.
A Memorial Service was held for Judy on Sunday, January 2 at 1:00pm at the Sutter Lawn Tennis Club at 3951 N Street, Sacramento, California and was attended by the whole Barmby, Hanford, Paine and Brewer families and many friends and classmates.
