About	Funeral services were held for Jerry McWherter (66) a life long resident of Elk Grove following a brief illness Jerry was one of five children born to Belle and Claude McWherter who ran a dairy in Elk Grove for many years. He worked for Almond Growers Association and the California Youth Authority at Preston School in Ione before retiring in 2003 due to health reasons. Jerry was a bilateral amputee who spent time with people facing similar problems to give then morale support and show them that they could continue to live a productive life. For relaxation, he loved to visit the casinos with his wife and go on mystery rides with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Betty, Bonnie, and Claude (Mac). He is survived by his wife Ann of Elk Grove; children Jerry Jr. and wife Cathy of Nebraska, James and wife Christine of Sacramento, Daniel and wife Melissa of Roseville, Kevin Stephenson of Elk Grove, and Sherry Herring and husband Don of Washington state; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was brother of Barbara Leonetti of Jackson, and also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The memorial services were held on December 30, 2010 at 1:00pm at Nicoletti, Culjis, and Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd. Internment was private at the East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park. - Information was from the Sacramento Bee and Elk Grove Citizen.
