About	Died very peacefully, but totally unexpected, at home on the morning of Thanksgiving Day 2010. Earl, the eldest of four children, was born to Peter and Olga Flemmer on August 27, 1932, in Akaska, South Dakota. When Earl was two, severe drought turned much of America's farmland into a dust bowl, so his parents loaded what belongings would fit into the car and moved their small family to Elk Grove, California in search of better farmland. After graduating from Elk Grove HS in 1952 as Senior Class President, he served in the Army for two years. Later, while he worked at DMV, Earl attended CSUS at night, earning a bachelor's degree in accounting. His 38-year career with the Sate of California included positions as budgetary analyst and administrative officer for Caltrans. In retir4ementthe care Earl gave to his yard, which looked like something from Sunset Magazine, was second only to the care he gave to anyone who needed help. He was known for noticing the needs of others and helping without ever being asked. He also enjoyed golfing with friends and the occasional trip to the harness races. Earl was preceded in death by his first wife, Lovena, and sister Virginia Bell. He is survived by his wife Carole; son Michael; brother Dale Flemmer; sister Frances Flemmer (EGHS '52); and Giovanni, his much loved and faithful Italian greyhound.
