About	Walter (87), a lifelong resident of Elk Grove, was born on August 3, 1923 to Edward and Katherine (Baumiller) Neher at home on the dairy in Elk Grove and spent his whole life as a dairyman and rancher. He attended local schools and graduated from EGHS in 1941. Golf was his hobby and he belonged to both Woodbridge and Valley-Hi Country Clubs, traveling many places to enjoy his hobby. He was also a member of the Elk Grove Lions Club for many years. Walter was preceded in death by his brother, Gibert Neher, sisters Edna Derheim and Mable Veninga, and great-grandson Eric Wilson. He is survived by his daughters Margot K. Phillips and husband Douglas of Tonopah, Nevada and Patti June Helwick and husband Jack of Galt, California; grandchildren Thomas Wilson of Elko, Nevada, Daniel Wilson and wife Ginny of Layton, Utah, Dawn Etzel and husband Steve of Syracuse, Utah, and Michael Hage and wife Toni of Oakdale, California. He was great-grandfather of Shalene (Wilson) and Martin (Kelly) of Brandebburg, Ky., Monique Wilson, Tessa Wilson and Thomas Wilson II of Elko, Jessica Wilson, Justin Etzel and AJ Etzel of Utah, and Makenzie Hage of Oakdale; step-grandfather of Derek and Blake Etzel; great-great-grandfather of Taylor Renee Martin, Hayden Nicole Martin and Bently Eric Wilson.
