About	Aleta Miles (86), a third generation native of Elk Grove died from injuries sustained from a fall at her Gold River Home. Mrs. Miles was born March 19, 1923 to Robert Dart and Elsie Winkelman Dart in the same house where her father had been born. The family ranch, located in the vicinity of what is now Highway 99 and Sheldon Road, was established by her grandfather, Livy Dart. Her early years were spent on the ranch until the family moved "into town" to a home on Summit Street and Second Avenue in Elk Grove. She attended Elk Grove Elementary School, where her father served on the school board for many years, and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1941. The following year, on July 4, 1942, she married Buel "Buck" Miles, and the couple established a home in Sacramento and 65 years of marriage. Mrs. Miles worked for Pacific Bell for 37 years as an administrative supervisor, while her husband spent a similar lengthy career with SMUD. They enjoyed more than 25 years together in retirement, traveling to Europe and Hawaii and taking several cruises. They were both avid Oakland A's fans and longtime A's season ticket holders. She also enjoyed creating lavish holiday decorations for her home. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Women's Forum and spent many years as a volunteer with Sutter Hospital Auxillary. Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her husband, Buck: sister Dorothy Greene: brothers Robert "Buster" Dart and Marvin Dart. She is survived by her sister Betty Jean Lewis and husband Edmund of Sacramento; sister-in-law Pat Dart Carlisle of Galt; nieces Marsha Holmes and husband Cy of Elk Grove and Pat Plescia and husband George of Gold River; and nephews Dennis Dart and wife Julia of Warsaw, Poland, Steven Dart of Honolulu, and David Dart and wife Helen of Lodi. A memorial service was held in the Chapel of East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary located on East Stockton Boulevard in Elk Grove. - Information from the Elk Grove Citizen and the Sacramento Bee.
