Born November 18, 1948, US Army Corporal (E-3) Combat Engineer Dennis Lane (19) was a ground casualty from multiple fragment wounds after seven months in country in Dinh Tuong, South Vietnam when Fire Support Base Jaeger was over run by the enemy.
Dennis was one of the twenty-two American soldier casualties from this very famous and well documented battle. Just after midnight on November 25 a small diversionary attack on the east side of the 200 soldier, five company base was initiated. Shortly thereafter a full scale attack of over 500 Viet Cong was started from the west. Thirteen large pieces of armored artillery where placed in a "wagon-style" formation and the American soldiers held off the almost five hour, unsuccessful assault killing over 100 Viet Cong. Dennis was a hero and it has been an honor to have known him. His fellow vets appreciate his sacrifice and pray that God Blesses him and his family.
