Graduation Year Class of 1976
Date of Passing Sep 10, 2009
About Mr. Angell passed away peacefully at his home in Sacramento. He lived his entire life in the Sacramento area, attended Elk Grove schools and graduating from Elk Grove High School. The son of Clifford J. Angell (EGHS Class of 1949) and Zatha (Phillips) Ladra, he was born April 1, 1958 in Sacramento. From the time he was a young boy, Fred enjoyed hiking, camping, and skiing throughout the Sierras, especially in the Lake Tahoe region. Shortly after high school graduation, his love for the outdoors led him to work for the Department of Forestry as a wild land firefighter based in the Auburn area. He also worked in the building trades and spent many years as a drywall professional, helping to erect a variety of buildings on the California State University, Sacramento campus. He eventually went on to join the staff at CSUS where he worked in the mailroom for 18 years. He was employed there at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford J. Angell in March 2009, his brother Dale Angell in 1999, and his uncle Charlie Angell in 1997. He is survived by his wife Nancy Angell and stepson Michael Purcell both of Sacramento: mother and stepfather Zatha and Dee Larda of Mokelumne Hill; sister Susan Angell of Sandpoint, Idaho: brother Phil Angell and wife Nancy (Shelby) of Plumas Lakes: stepmother Becci Angell of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; stepbrother Jeff Ladra of Oklahoma; stepsisters Deanna Ladra and Johanna Oaks both of Lodi; uncle and aunts Fredrick and Helen Angell of Roseville and Nancy Angell of Elk Grove; and a number of cousins. According to his wishes, no formal services were held. -- per Elk Grove Citizen, September 18, 2009
