Sophie Arlen (Pantlick) Grant
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Sophia Arlene Grant, who entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior on July 31, 2026, at the age of 85. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loved ones on her precious mother's birthday.
Sophia was born on December 8, 1940, in Los Angeles, California. During her childhood, her family lived in both Oklahoma and Missouri before returning to California, where she built a life defined by faith, family, compassion, and service. She went to the original Elk Grove High School her first three years ('56,'57,'58) until her family moved, where she graduated from Sacramento High School in 1959.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Daisy Pantlick; beloved husband, Kenneth Ray Grant Sr., who passed away 5 years ago; her first husband, Charles Wayne Sheppard Sr., who tragically lost his life in a rafting accident; and her first son, Charles "Chucky" Wayne Sheppard Jr., who passed away from leukemia at ten years old.
Sophia is lovingly survived by her sisters Neta (Hilton) Ham, Terry (Roger) Cappocchi, and Sharon "Tiney" (George) Sanguigni; her brother John "Bo" Pantlick; her cousin Jeannie Silva who she called sister; her sister-in-law Sharon Grant that has always been by her side; her children, Kimberly Dawn Grant, Kenneth Ray Jr. (Jennifer) Grant, Julie Elaine Grant, and Tiffany Raylene (Brandon) Halley; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever changed by her love and faith.
Our angel on earth, Sophia Arlene, we love you with all our hearts and higher than the heavens.
Celebration of life service will be held at East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park & Mortuary on August 8, 2026. Viewing and arrival is at 9am, and service promptly begins at 10am, with reception to follow.
