About Nicolas ‘Nic’ James Palmer died suddenly and unexpectantly May 30, 2025. Nic is survived by his parents Gary and Patti Palmer, his sister and brother-in-law Jason and Kellie Vitaich, his nephew Adam Nicolas Vitaich and his niece Kara Jean Vitaich all of Sacramento, California. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts and cousins from the Palmer and Coulter families. He leaves a world full of devoted friends who will dearly miss his presence in their lives. Last but not least he is survived by his beloved dog, Diana, who he adopted in 2018 from Muttville Senior Dog Rescue.
Nic was born in Sacramento, Ca April 8, 1981. He graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1999 where he played football and was senior class president. He went on to earn a BA in Media Arts from California State University, Chico in 2005.
After graduation, Nic worked in News Radio for 20 years. 9 years at KFBK Sacramento as a Producer/Editor of the morning news and 11 years at KCBS San Francisco first as Editor of the morning news and finally as the News Operations Manager.
Nic was the best friend to countless friends across the globe. His support and positive impact on his family and friends’ lives will be missed by all. Every where he traveled there were people who knew him and loved him. This was a life long attribute, even as a child he befriended people to discuss sports, news and his family.
Nic was an avid sports fan, primarily baseball and soccer but really he enjoyed all sports. He inherited his love for the LA Dodgers from his parents and he proudly wore his Dodger Blue even while living in SF Giants’ country. He also influenced the Palmer family’s favorite teams as young as age 4 when he introduced us to the Oakland A’s and he enjoyed our family season tickets from 1987 to 1994. He played soccer as a boy and this led to a passion for soccer also.
A celebration of Nic’s life is scheduled for Friday June 20, 2025 2pm at Nicolletti, Culjis and Herberger Funeral Home 5401 Folsom Blvd Sacramento, CA 95819. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue 750 Florida St. San Francisco, Ca 94110.
