Karen, a Sacramento Native, passed away at the age of 71. She was born to parents Albert and Judy Maffei on October 6, 1953.

Her family moved to Elk Grove, CA where she graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1971. Karen moved to the Bay Area after graduating, where she worked for several employers in San Francisco. Karen retired from Proactive Network as a Systems Administrator in December 2019. Karen loved to travel and made several trips to Europe visiting many countries in her lifetime.

Family was important to Karen, she never missed a family gathering. She was a proud Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Great Aunt.

Karen is survived by her mother, Judy, sister Karlene Steelman (A.C), nephew T.A Avila, niece Camille Avila (Kris), great-nieces Karli Avila, Aspen and Eden Pallesen, and several cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on July 5, 2025 at 1pm at Brewster’s Bar and Grill in Galt, CA.
