About Jim Trimboli was born in Eccles, West Virginia on February 12, 1925 and passed away on March 30, 2025. Prior to his death, Jim was able to celebrate his 100th birthday at the Elk Grove Park with many family and friends attending. Elk Grove Mayor, Bobbie Singh-Allen presented Jim with the “Key to the City” at his party.

Jim lived a life marked by dedication to service, hard work, and devotion to family and friends.

Jim enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 at the age of 17, and proudly served as a Signalman Third Class on Naval transporter ships during WWII. He traveled to Tunis, North Africa; Sicily, Salerno, and Anzio, Italy; Okinawa, Japan and Guam.

He was married to Nellie Albanese for 68 years until she passed in 2015. Jim’s greatest joy came from their family. They have 2 sons, James Trimboli, II and Philip Trimboli, and one daughter, Louise Echols (Kent Echols). Jim graduated from Marshall University and Columbia University. Jim and Nellie moved from West Virginia to Elk Grove, California in 1954. That same year he began teaching at Elk Grove High School. Throughout his 37 years at Elk Grove High School, Jim coached JV baseball, was a counselor, and principled summer school. He taught business curriculum to many generations of students and started the Work Experience program.

Jim was an avid golfer and a die-hard Oakland A’s baseball fan. He was devoted to his faith and was a daily communicant until the pandemic. He loved being a member of Kiwanis for many years. With so many memories, precious moments, and wonderful times, he will always be in our hearts.

My mother moved our family to Florin in 1961 from a small WV town after my father was killed. Mr. Trimboli immediately offered a helping hand when he found out we were from WV. Both mom and I appreciated his concern and have never forgotten him as a great person and friend to our family!
