Last time I saw him, he was in a Coast Guard uniform attending one of the many training courses taught at one of my duty stations, Fleet Combat Training Center Pacific in San Diego. I just gotten back from a Naval Tour in Vietnam, so it must have been around 1972 when we talked last. He loved life.
