Sterling and wife Tina lived in Elk Grove and had two sons, Eric and Heath.
He had a severe stroke in 2011 and ultimately was confined to a care facility in Elk Grove.
He was raised in Elk Grove and a nephew of long time county supervisor Henry Kloss. He was involved in the Elk Grove Historical Society, the Elk Grove Preservation Committee and many other organizations. He was often called "Mr. Elk Grove" because he knew so much about it. He will be missed.
A private service was held by close family after his passing.
