Graduation Year Class of 1974

About LAWRENCE LON LOVE– Santa Ana, CA –Larry Love passed away at the age of 64 on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021 at his home. He was born in Douglas, Arizona on September 23, 1956, son of the late Aubrey Dale Love and the late Barbara Boyman Love of Sacramento, California.

A lifelong passion began for Larry while playing soccer as a freshman at Ivory Coast Academy in Bouake, Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa. He played soccer throughout the world with semi-pro evangelical teams such as Uncharted Waters and Sports Ambassadors for Christ. He would have played soccer in the 1980 Olympics; had it not been boycotted. He continued keeping in shape by playing on various soccer teams and working out regularly until last year.

Larry grew up in Southern and Northern California. He graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1974 and earned his B.S. in Math from BIOLA University in 1978. With a soccer scholarship and while working as a Math Professor at the University of Toledo, Larry earned his Master’s in Applied Mathematics in 1980. After retiring from his career as a Computer Graphics Software Engineer in 2015, Larry enjoyed going to a different café every day for coffee and a thorough read of the Orange County Register. He prided himself on completing the crossword puzzles and other puzzles in ink. He avidly explored libraries throughout Orange and Los Angeles Counties where he would work on his laptop and check out books written by favorite authors to share with his sister. One of his favorite pastimes was playing card games with family and friends.

Larry spent his life in service to others and his Lord Jesus Christ. By participating in clinical trials for treatment of melanoma and donating his body to science once he was finished with it, Larry continues to serve beyond the grave…or rather the book-shaped urn, soon to settle at the Love Family Burial Plot in Animas Creek, New Mexico with our “book-urned” parents.
