Sacramento, California - Sherry Louise Eaton, beloved daughter, mother, niece, cousin and friend passed away at Kaiser South on February 21, 2021 of complications from her long battle with type1 diabetes. She was born in Sacramento, Ca. to George and Helen Kawakami on January 17, 1971. She was diagnosed with diabetes at 18 months of age. Sherry graduated from Elk Grove High School. She met and married her husband John Eaton and they had one son which she raised alone with the help of her grandmother, Dora Kawakami. She resided with her son at the family home next door until she passed away. She had several traumatic incidents in her life and by the age of 30 was on disability for PTSD and acute panic syndrome. Preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, three uncles and two aunts. She is survived by her mother Helen Kawakami, father George Kawakami, son Datone Eaton, husband John Eaton, aunts Judy Ornelas and Lillian Glantz (Jerry), uncle Donald Kawakami, and cousins Brian, Cynthia, Crystal, Jerry, Lisa, Natalie, Pauline, Robyn, and Rosenda. In spite of her disabilities, Sherry enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed family gatherings and being with friends. She was very active, artistic and generous, knitting blankets, throws, and making framed needlepoint wall hangings for family and friends. She enjoyed reading, crafting and flower arranging. Though she seldom went out alone, she loved to travel and visit family and friends, driving as far as necessary to be with them. She also loved amusement parks and rollercoaster rides, and would talk you into riding the biggest ones with her. But her favorite trip was going with her Grandmother Kawakami to Italy. She also treasured Christmas and birthdays spent with her family or friends. She never forgot your birthday and always wanted to have a special gift for everyone. She was a wonderful daughter, mother and friend. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 11am to 1pm at Sacramento Memorial Lawn, Garden Main Chapel, 6100 Stockton Blvd. Funeral and internment service will be private. - Information from the Sacramento Bee
