About Antonio P. Galeste
April 17, 1950 - January 7, 2021
Sacramento, California - Antonio P. Galeste ('68) ascended peacefully on January 7, 2021 at the age of 70. Born on April 17, 1950 in Elk Grove, California, Tony is preceded in ascension by his parents Emeterio F. Galeste, Sr. and Remedios P. Galeste – who instilled in him hard work and a love for family.
Tony, as he was known by his friends and family, worked for most of his life. As a young boy he worked on the ranch with his family later he joined the Army National Guard and had become a Business Owner before beginning his career with the Department of Corrections where he retired in 2004. He was well respected and known for being a mentor, having a kind heart and best of all for his quiet and calm demeanor. He worked tirelessly for many years to enjoy his retirement tending to his garden, fishing with his brothers, traveling with his wife Evangeline and watching his family grow.
His surviving family include his loving wife, Evangeline A. Galeste to whom he was married for 13 years; his six siblings, Emeterio Galeste, Jr. ('65), John Galeste ('67), Manuel Galeste ('69), Rosalind Galeste ('72), Greg Galeste, and Diana Fedrow; his four children, Renee' Alvarez (Joe Alvarez), Antoinette Perez (Frank Perez, Sr.), Andrea Galeste, and Marcus Antonio Galeste; his seven grandchildren Anthony Marzan, Marissa Melendez, Frank Perez, Jr., Olivia Perez, Ariana Perez, Raymond Avelino Venegas II, and Daniel Venegas; and eight great-grandchildren Patrick Terry, Anthony Marzan Jr., Romeo Marzan (Anthony/Ana), Asiris Casper, Amelia Jones, Michael Jones Jr., Milo Jones (Marissa/Mike), and Josiah Acosta (Olivia/Alfredo).
Tony was a beloved husband, loving brother, and a proud and devoted father and grandfather. He was an avid Sacramento Kings fan who will also be remembered for his love of bass fishing, his green thumb, and for the way he inspired his family to work hard and take care of one another. We will forever cherish all the memories we shared with him.
An Intimate Service will be held on Thurs., 2/4/2021 please contact the family for details. A celebration of Tony's life will be held on a later date. "To All of you that knew our brother Tony, whether as a childhood friend, a family friend, at the Dept of Corrections, fishing the Delta or just living life: I am saddened to inform you that our brother lost his month-long battle with COVID-19 and left us during the early morning hours of Thurs, Jan 7. He was the strongest man I knew and that gave me hope, but in the end the struggle was too much to bear, the mountain too steep to climb. Another piece of my heart has been ripped out, never to return. I loved my brother, my friend, and always will. Tony was a good man, a hard-working man, a man of conviction who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved his family, he loved traveling with his wife Eva, and he loved chasing the elusive Black Bass in the Delta. Our family is in mourning, I am in mourning. They say that time eases all pain. In this case I respectfully disagree. The pain I feel today will be with me until the day I die." - information from brother Manual ('67)
