About	LAVIS, Edith Marie (E.D.) Born August 4, 1953, in Quantico, VA, and died January 2, 2005 in Sebastopol, CA, after a short illness (CA). She helped found the Pleiades Center for Anthroposophic Medicine in Sebastopol, and was actively involved in Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm in Santa Rosa, CA, first as Development Director and secretary for the Governance Council, then as a leader of the Parent Council. She was a member of the Christian Community Church of Santa Rosa. E.D. lived in Tucson for 20 years before moving to Northern CA. There, she was President of the Board of the Enchanted Desert Garden Waldorf School, active in the St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church, an early parent supporter of "The Parent Connection" and active in La Leche League. E.D. attended Cosumnes River College and CSU-Humbolt in CA, as well as Willamette University in OR. She also completed the Waldorf School Administration and Community Development Program in Spring Valley, NY. She graduated from Elk Grove High School in Elk Grove, CA, in 1971. E.D. was an accomplished pianist, singer and writer, having published several poems in American Poetry Review. She was also a talented seamstress and homemaker who touched the lives of everyone she came into contact with. She is survived by her husband, Mark Feickert; daughters Emma and Lucy Feickert of Sebastopol, CA; mother Alice M. Lavis of Sierra Vista, AZ; brother Andy Lavis, of Davis, CA; brother Dean Lavis, of Tucson, AZ; sister Elizabeth Porter, of Tucson, AZ; seven nieces and nephews and one grand-nephew. A memorial service will be held on January 15 at 2 pm in Sophia Hall on the Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm campus, 655 Willowside Road, Santa Rosa. Contributions made in her name may be sent to the Pleiades Center for Anthroposophic Medicine, 7770 Healdsburg Ave., Sebastopol, CA 95472.
