About	"Big Dave", passed peacefully on January 1, 2019 at the age of 80. David was born on April 19, 1938 to Richard and Alice Schaap in Sacramento, CA. In 1959, David married the love of his life and best friend Margaret. He is survived by Margaret, his two beloved sons David (Kathleen) and Greg, his two loving grandchildren Andrew and Megan (Kenny) and his adorable dog Max. He is also survived his loving sister Marge (Art), his brother Dan (Katie), his cousin Carollee, his sister-in-law Ernestine (David), many nieces, nephews, and friends. David graduated from Elk Grove High School, class of 1956. During school, he started working at Hite's Dairy in Sacramento, where he later became co-owner. Following his time at the dairy, he worked as a truck driver for Lucky's stores, where he eventually retired over twenty years later. A memorial service will be officiated by Rev. Eduino Silveira at 10AM on Saturday, January 19th, at the East Lawn Mortuary, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, the Sacramento SPCA, the American Heart Association, or Project Ride. His family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Jonathan Hartman, Dr. Paul Akins, and all the staff at Kaiser Morse Avenue in the Neuro ICU for the excellent care given to David. - Information from the Sacramento Bee
