| About | Mary Lou Hudson passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018, just a few days short of her 87th birthday, in the presence of her husband and children. Mary Lou was born in Elk Grove, California, in August of 1931 to Edwin and Margaret (Peckham) Polhemus. She graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1949, having served as a Senior Class Officer and on the Student Body Council. She married Robert James Hudson in October of 1950. Mary Lou was a mother, homemaker, and farm wife - working closely with her husband to oversee the family farm for over fifty years. She was a lifelong resident of Elk Grove, working for the first established Elk Grove department store in the early 1950s. She was an avid gardener and participated in her high school reunion planning committee until shortly before her passing. Mary Lou leaves behind a legacy of friendship, love, and family. She is survived by her husband, Robert and their three children: sons James (Jim) and Ed, and daughter Jennifer. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Stephanie and Melissa; three great-grandchildren, Abigail (Abby), Colin, and Una; two sisters, Margaret (Patsy) and Emily, many nieces and nephews, extended family and long-time friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Margaret (Margie), her brother, James and his son (her nephew), John. Services will be held at East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park located at 9189 East Stockton Blvd., Tuesday, August 7 at 10:00 a.m.; a reception will follow at the same location. - Information from the Sacramento Bee |
