About Me	When I came to L.A. in 1995 I was soon hired by the American Heart Association as their Director of Public Advocacy and my job was to eliminate smoking in workplaces, bars, restaurants, and outdoor public areas. I started it in L.A. and helped to spread this policy around the world by speaking at state health and world health conferences. I started the Public Access to Defibrillation program that placed heart defibrillators in public buildings and locations, If you are seeing calories placed beside food items in menus - yep, I started that by writing the bill in 2002 and passed by the California Legislature.
