About Elic "Gene" Eugene Thompson was born on July 9, 1956, in Brawley, CA to the late Mr. Elder L. Thompson, Jr. and Mrs. Mary Alice (Starnes) Thompson. He departed from this life to be with his Lord and Savior, and his parents on Monday, September 12, 2022 at his home North of Healdton, Oklahoma at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 3 days.
Gene's family moved from Brawley, located near the California and Mexico border, to the Los Angles area in 1958. They lived in Hawthorne and Inglewood for a year then settled in El Segundo, California where Gene's dad got a job as a firefighter. All his school years were in El Segundo with Gene graduating from El Segundo High School in June of 1974. As a teen Gene was sometimes invited, by one of the El Segundo Policemen they knew to come shoot with him at the police range, the friend told Gene he was outshooting half of the department. Also, as a teen, Gene worked with his dad doing janitorial work in the laundromats they owned. After High School Gene worked for a food catering company at the Los Angles International Airport driving food trucks out to the planes. After relocating to Oklahoma when his dad retired Gene worked with his dad cutting, hauling, and bailing hay, harvesting pecans, breeding German Shepherds, and providing armed or unarmed security at well drill sites. Gene was also a Volunteer Firefighter with the Fox-Graham Fire Department. Gene did the welding of the two barns and the front fence line at their home a mile South of Fox.
