Sam died in Vietnam. Saw his name on the Vietnam Wall in Washington, DC in 1998. Had Ag Science class with him. He was awarded a Silver Star for heroism.

When I got back from VN Sam was on his way over. One of my squad members sent me a letter that not only was Sam in the same squad but carried my machine gun! Twenty years later I went to a 2nd of the 22nd Infanty reunion and learned that he had received at least one medal for valor and that he was a very good soldier. He passed away from spinal minengitis, I was told.
