Graduation Year Class of 1971
Date of Passing May 29, 2016
About Santa has taken his last sleigh ride. Kirk Owen Iverson, 63, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Swedish Hospital in Edmonds, WA, surrounded by a huge number of family and friends with hearts full of love. He was born in Yakima, WA on March 16, 1953 to Ralph and Nellie (Richey) Iverson. Dad finally got his boy!

Raised in Yakima, he was a member of Eisenhower’s class of 1971. Then it was off on his bike across the states to experience life. He was a logger, trash hauler, foundry worker, sailor, and drywaller. He finished with 33 years at Boeing as an interior parts assembler.

His passion was motorcycles, especially Harley’s, riding or reading about them. There are many fond memories of rides with family and friends.

Kirk was a “big guy” with an even bigger heart, very caring and generous to a fault. His love of kids and resemblance to Santa (especially in his red suit) prompted him to play Santa for many years. Even in the “off season” children would approach him with “are you Santa?”. His reply, “Yes I am, but I’m on vacation”. His numerous nieces and nephews enjoyed having their own personal Santa, of course his gift giving lasted all year! They thank him for the unwavering support for all their endeavors and those special moments. In memory of Kirk, please keep the spirit of Christmas in your hearts all year long.

His favorite pastime was watching sunsets and people at the beach.

Kirk, we will miss your smile, laughter, and big hugs. We all love you!!

Kirk is survived by his sisters: Rayna Iverson (Lynwood, WA) and Kim (Jim) Kean (Yakima, WA) and a large network of family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Nina Dehart and brother-in-law Doug Dehart.

Memorial donations may be made in Kirk’s name to Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 5351, Seattle, WA, 98145.

Bring your stories and join us in a celebration of his life on Saturday, July 9th, 2016 from 1:00-4:00 pm at Edmonds United Methodist Church (lower level), 828 Caspers St., Edmonds, WA, 98020.
