Sandra "Sandy" Kay Staggs Obituary
Yakima, WA - Sandra Kay Staggs, known affectionately as "Sandy" to her loved ones, passed away peacefully, at home, on April 20, 2026. Sandy was born in Yakima, Washington, on December 8, 1949, to loving parents, Donald and Pauline Collings.
In July 1970, Sandy married her husband, Billy Staggs. Together, they raised their son, Don, in their home in Union Gap, Washington.
Her radiant smile, generous spirit, and warm heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Sandy's love for her family was paramount and shone brightest in her role as a loving wife, mother, and adoring grandma.
She found joy in simple pleasures like shopping, baking delicious treats, camping, and spending time with her four-legged furry daughter, Bailey. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her granddaughter, Mia. She loved taking Mia on shopping trips, going on camping trips and attending many as games of volleyball, basketball, and softball that she possibly could.
Sandy enjoyed attending church and growing her in her faith weekly with her family and living her faith through her actions. The verse, "Love is patient, love is kind..." (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) perfectly encapsulates Sandy's approach to life.
She is survived by her loving husband, Billy, her son, Don, daughter-in-law, Colette, granddaughter, Mia, sister, Deanna, brother-in-law, Dave, two nephews, and a niece. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Pauline Collings, and brother, Martin Collings.
Sandy truly blessed us all with her kind and loving spirit, our hearts are heavy with sadness, but heaven is truly an even better place today. We will see you again!
Brookside Funeral Home is caring for the family. The family invites you to share your cherished memories of Sandy and to upload photos to her memorial page at www.brooksidefuneral.com, celebrating her remarkable life and the love she shared with all of us.
