About Peggy L. Drake graduated to her home in Heaven on Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by her family. Peggy was born in Yakima, on May 15, 1960, to Leon and Juanita (Golightly) Adams. She was the youngest of their five children, including three sisters and one brother.

She attended Broadway Elementary School and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1978.

Peggy's father passed early in her life and her mother married Rev. James Layne in 1974. He became a father to Peggy. They shared the love of laughter and making jokes to lighten up a somber situation.

Her daughter, Tami, was born in 1979, and her son, Marcus, followed in 1981.

On January 18, 1986, Peggy married Tony Drake and they welcomed their son, Shaun, that October.

Peggy began her first career at Albertsons, where she quickly worked her way into a management position, and eventually became a very key part of the team, training management employees in stores all over the northwest. After 20 years, she made a change and entered the healthcare industry, as a care provider. She joined the team at Highgate Senior Living and again, moved up the ladder to the position of Resident Care Coordinator. Peggy was dedicated to the most elite care of her residents. She led by example and ensured that her residents were the first priority at all times. She built amazing relationships with her many care partners, residents, and their families. Two of her team members, Michael O. and Becky, worked with Peggy for most of her years at Highgate and were very special to her. Over the years, she also built important friendships with her partners Caela, Mandy, and Michael R.

Over the last two years, Peggy has switched into the new role of a specialist, working with and mentoring other Resident Care Coordinators in many other Highgate communities.

Peggy loved her family immensely and made a point of having a special relationship with each of her children and her eleven grandchildren. She never missed a birthday or making sure that perfect gifts were passed out at Christmas.

Peggy had a very special bond with her sisters, Joyce, Donna, and Vicki. She made it a point that they get together regularly and this became a weekly lunch, followed by a few rounds of Phase 10. They enjoyed many trips together, prayed together, and supported one another through life's tough times.

Peggy was raised in a Christian home and grew up loving and knowing Jesus. After some years away from her faith she made the most important change of all. She began a walk with Jesus that grew stronger every day. She prayed fervently for her family to find the same love and peace in Christ that she experienced.

Peggy was very joyful and loved to laugh! Everyone who knew her would be met with a smile. She loved to sing and listen to music. There was a time when you would find her playing bingo with her husband and her friend, Fred. She enjoyed watching Seahawks games with her sons and son-in-law. Her free time was often spent following a trial on Court TV or watching game shows with her grandchildren. It was also a big joy for Peggy to have little trips to the lake or waterpark with her family. Seeing them laugh and have fun together brought her joy.

Peggy is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Anthony Drake, daughter, Tami (Jeff) Moore, sons, Marcus (Melissa) Redfield and Shaun (Jessica) Drake, 11 grandchildren, Trevor, Hannah, Hailee, Aliyah, Sarah, Bubba, Ricki, Bella, Emma, Lilly, and MJ, as well as step grandchildren, Roman and Genesis, three sisters, Joyce Tabor, Donna (Larry) Richardson, and Vicki Munson, step siblings, Jerry Layne, Linda Layne, Geneva Frazier, and Jimmy Layne, as well as many special nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Rick Adams, with whom she shared a very special bond, her father, Oscar Leon Adams, her precious mother and stepfather, Pastor James and Juanita Layne, niece, Teresa Cooley, nephew, David Tabor, and her two dearest friends, Vickie Adams and DeeAn Barnes.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 1:00pm, at Breakthrough Church (1220 Business Parkway, Union Gap). A Reception will follow, with details announced at the service. A Private Graveside Service will be held at West Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Yakima Union Gospel Mission or the 2025 Walk to End Alzeimers, Yakima Valley. Memorial donations may be sent in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936), who is caring for the family. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.brooksidefuneral.com.

I went to Ike with Peggy, I didn't know her well, but the lady had a sweet, shy smile and a beautiful voice.
