About	In the early morning hours of August 21, 2016 Gregg passed into the arms of Jesus at Cottage in the Meadow with family by his side. Gregg was born in Longview, WA on October 23, 1958. He grew up in Yakima, graduating from Eisenhower High School and Central Washington University. Gregg's life was filled with love and laughter, singing and dancing, fishing and Seahawks, hanging out with friends and family, going to the beach and BBQ'ing chicken. But the most fulfilling thing in his life was his love of teaching. Gregg will forever leave a giant footprint on the hearts and lives of thousands of students he taught and coached and mentored, laughed with and cried with. The letters he received over the years were about his caring, compassionate, funny and great teaching style. He told his students many times "The day you find the job you love is the last day you'll ever work." Gregg's last days were filled with so many friends and colleagues who shared precious thoughts and memories. Our family will be forever grateful to all who loved and admired his wonderful spirit. A special thanks to the nursing staff at Memorial Hospital and the tender care he received at Cottage in the Meadow. Gregg was preceded in death by his mother Margie Hurst. He is lovingly survived by his father Owen Hurst, brothers Curtis (Leslie) Hurst, and Mark (Kelly) Chisholm, sister Susan Adams and his devoted wife Joyce. Gregg is also survived by his stepson Jeff Dobbs, granddaughter Kandi (Donnie) Girard, great grandkids DJ and Savanna Girard. Gregg also leaves behind his Davis High School family and many friends.
