About On January 29, Laurel passed away at Brookdale Hearthstone in Moses Lake, Washington where she had been residing for the past year. Born in River Falls, Wisconsin to parents William and Julia (Bergstralh) Schulz, Laurie moved with her family to Camas shortly after, where she happily spent her childhood years with brother, Peter. Her family moved again to Yakima her junior year of high school where she graduated from Eisenhower High School and met her future husband, Gary Hansen. Together, they raised two daughters, Jane and Catie, in Yakima and Tampico for eighteen years. After their divorce, Laurie went back to college to become a nurse, which had been her lifelong dream. As a nurse she worked in the Yakima Valley for 20 years prior to her retirement. The daughter of a football coach, Laurie was an avid football fan, particularly for the Seahawks, and always rooted for Pete Carroll and the team, as well as her favorite player of all time, Marshawn Lynch. And having a grade school teacher as a mother, Laurie was instilled with a love of reading books of all kinds. She enjoyed decorative painting and staying in touch with close friends and her daughters. She loved all the dogs she ever had and talked about them until her last days. She is preceded in death by her parents William (Dutch) and Julia (Judy) Schulz. She is survived by her brother Peter Schulz (wife J.J.), daughters Jane Hansen (husband Kurt Lango), Catie Hansen, and grandson Jackson Lango. A family memorial will be held in the spring. Gifts of remembrance may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Parkinson's Foundation.
