About	On Sunday, August 14, 2022, Janice Case passed away with family by her side, including her husband of nearly 60 years, James Case. Janice was born in Poteau, Oklahoma on September 15, 1944 to Johnnie and Vera Robbins. Early in life, she moved with her parents to Pasco, growing up there with her younger brother Gary. She graduated from Pasco High School in 1962, excelling both as a student and as a musician. In 1963, Janice married her high school sweetheart, James Case. As newlyweds, they packed their few possessions inside their Nash and moved across the country to Virginia. While there, James completed his service in the Army and Janice worked for the Navy in a job that required her to inspect military equipment, a task she came to enjoy after convincing her supervisor that pants - not a skirt - was the appropriate work attire on those days! In 1967, Janice and James welcomed their first child, daughter Dana. This was followed by a move back to Washington state - first Vancouver and then Yakima - and three more children: daughter Tracy and sons Ryan and Rob. As the children grew, Janice proved to be an accomplished seamstress, cook, and homemaker. She made her daughters' dresses, grew an extensive garden, canned vegetables and fruits, baked frequently, and cooked dinner from scratch nearly every night. With skill and pride, she decorated the family home, built in 1971. Working alongside her husband, Janice oversaw many impressive additions to the family home over the years. Janice volunteered at the community center in Terrace Heights. She also taught children's choir at Terrace Heights Presbyterian Church, gave piano lessons at home, and enjoyed golfing and taking the kids to the pool at the Yakima Country Club. Always a strong student and hard worker, Janice resumed her education as an adult and earned a bachelor's while simultaneously working part-time and raising four kids. She then spent her career with the Yakima School District. She taught at Eisenhower High School for many years, and particularly devoted herself to advanced placement English courses. In addition, she coached varsity cheer and girls' golf, alongside her husband who coached the boys' golf team. She later returned to school to earn her master's and became an administrator, serving additional years as vice principal at multiple YSD schools. In retirement, Janice enjoyed the nearly constant company of three grandchildren living right next door. She continued improving the family home, appropriately proud of all she and James created together. She also continued attending Terrace Heights Presbyterian Church, valuing the fellowship and living out her faith. Janice had a sharp mind and a strong personality, befitting her curly red hair. She valued manners, toughness, and a big family dinner, forever grounded in the values her Southern Baptist parents imparted to her. Janice's love of great literature and crossword puzzles; love for her husband, children and grandchildren; and love of her beautiful flowers and bountiful garden were evident to all who knew her. She was especially proud that her four children obtained over nine combined college degrees. Janice is survived by her husband, their four children (and spouses), five grandchildren (Vanesa, Robbie, Mike, Sophia, and Emily), and her brother (and his family). She was preceded in death by her parents. She will be greatly missed and her spirit will forever be with us. A celebration of her life is planned for September 15, 2022 at 7 p.m. at Terrace Heights Presbyterian Church.
