Graduation Year Class of 1966
Date of Passing Oct 29, 2013
About Ken worked at Dowty Decoto, Yakima Creamery, Pay ‘n’ Pak, Chain Gear, Mayhak and Sons Machine Shop, Yakima School District and YV Tech. He spent the majority of his career as a machinist, working at Mayhak and Sons with his father Marv. He then started teaching machining and applied math in his last years. As a jack of all trades and a master of some, Ken enjoyed a little of all that life had to offer. Some included painting, wood working, metal sculpting, leather tooling, gold panning and gardening. He also had a ham radio license, built his own computer, satellite dish, and ham radio tower. Ken also enjoyed being on or in the water. As a younger man he learned how to S.C.U.B.A. dive. Later in life he enjoyed walking on the Oregon beaches.

Ken was a teacher his entire life, to his children, to his grandchildren and most recently to his students. His teaching went from a natural tendency to a paid vocation. One of his proudest achievements was being able to take one of his students to Skills USA in Kansas City this last summer.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Saundra Mayhak, his daughter Dawnna Cox, her husband Andrew Cox Sr, his son Matthew Mayhak and his wife Sandra Mayhak. Ken also leaves behind his brother Daniel Mayhak , two sisters Debra and Sharon Mayhak and three loving grandchildren Elizahbeth and Andrew Cox Jr. and Trevor Kenneth Mayhak.

Ken is preceded in death by his daughter Charron Mayhak, his parents Marv and Anna Mae Mayhak.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to YV Tech for the Skills USA Fund. As a family we would like to thank all of the nursing staff at Memorial Hospital ICU and Telemetry for all the time and care they gave to Dad.

There will be a time of visitation Friday, 4-8pm, November 1, 2013 at Keith and Keith Funeral Home. A Celebration of Ken’s life will be Saturday, November 2, at Keith and Keith Funeral Home with burial to follow at Tahoma Cemetery.
